K-16 Collaborative

African American Thriving Initiatives (AATI)
The African American Thriving Initiatives (AATI) is a comprehensive effort to address the underrepresentation of African American students, faculty, and staff at UC Berkeley, and to improve the climate for those who are here now and all who will join our community in the future. Learn more at AATI.
Asian American & Pacific Islander (AA & PI) Thriving Initiatives
In April 2023, UC Berkeley was designated by the US Department of Education as an Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institution. This designation will foster our institutional commitment to deepening our capacity to serve AANAPI students, staff and faculty, alumni, as part of our broader commitment to serving the entire campus community. Disability Justice
Disability Justice is a framework that recognizes the interconnectedness of ableism with other types of oppression. It focuses on the voices of disabled people of color, immigrants with disabilities, queer people with disabilities, trans and gender non-conforming individuals with disabilities, people with disabilities who are homeless, incarcerated, or have had their ancestral lands taken, and others. Their goal is to address ableism's root causes, promote systemic change, and foster a more inclusive and welcoming campus culture for students, staff, faculty, and community members at UC Berkeley. The University of California’s Student Academic Preparation and Educational Partnerships (SAPEP) portfolio of programs prepares a higher proportion of California’s students — including those who are first-generation, socioeconomically disadvantaged and those for whom English is a second language — for postsecondary education, graduate and professional school opportunities, as well as success in the workplace.

The Puente Project
- The Puente Project's mission is to increase the number of educationally underrepresented students who enroll in four-year colleges and universities, earn college degrees and return to the community as mentors and leaders to future generations. Early Academic Outreach Program (EAOP)

The Early Academic Outreach Program has partnered with schools, districts, community organizations, and families in the Bay Area for over 45 years. EAOP helps prepare students for college by creating a community of young scholars and offering college preparatory advising and academic enrichment opportunities. Student Initiated Programs (SIP)
- UC Berkeley's version of the SIP, the bridges Multicultural Resource Center was founded by five student-run organizations to support underrepresented students of color following Proposition 209, focusing on recruitment, retention, cross-cultural solidarity, and resource accessibility in higher education. Public Policy and International Affairs (PPIA)
- The PPIA Junior Summer Institute at UC Berkeley offers student participants a rigorous seven-week program of coursework designed to improve the participants’ analytical and quantitative skills vital to success at top-level graduate programs in public policy and international affairs as well as law school. Additionally, the Institute includes a variety of activities intended to give participants a comprehensive knowledge of the opportunities for professional careers in public service. - The University of California Leadership Excellence through Advanced Degrees (UC LEADS) program is designed to engage and educate California's future leaders by preparing promising students for advanced education in science, technology, mathematics and engineering (STEM). UC LEADS is designed to identify upper-division undergraduate students with the potential to succeed in these disciplines, but who have experienced situations or conditions that have adversely impacted their advancement in their field of study.
